When I'm hungry. Which is every few days. I get my own meals, if you hadn't noticed, he seems to get squeamish around murder.
Used to a good supply from an imPort, March, but since he's gone it's not so easy.

My official job back home is the sacred executioner for the Grail, head of the Samson Unit. We are a holy organization tasked with protecting the Christ child. I am in charge of finding false prophets and eliminating them. Nothing surprises me. Nothing phases me. Certainly not the arrival of the biblical Cain.

So where is it you stand? What is your whole purpose? You seem rather disenchanted with things in this world.

My purpose? I don't have one. Might have been God's purpose to have me keep the balance, once upon a time. Can't have good without evil. Keep the lambs cowering and obedient by throwing a few to the wolves.

Doesn't really work like that these days. God's been inattentive for too long. Let his flock run wild.

I do not disagree. So then, is it not time for someone to come along and rein in that flock? Is it not time for a messiah to restore order to this world?

I don't know. God's rule didn't exactly work out well for me. Not sure we need more of the same.

We do not need a Jesus type. We need something better. Someone to restore order. And Frederick Chilton is nothing if not orderly.

He's also contentious, widely disliked and lacking in survival instincts. There's better candidates.

He does not need survival instincts when he has me to guide the way. And as for being disliked -- I believe "widely" is a stretch.

Most of his friends don't even like him. Widely is accurate.

I guarantee if we were to interview the imPort population, there would be more people to like him than do not.

Fair enough. But you must at least find his presence tolerable, otherwise you would have found another job.

As employers go, he's got impressively flexible morals. Reason enough to hang around. Same reason as it is for most of us working for him.

He is more open minded than most. Do you often find it difficult to be hired because you are a cannibal?

And what do you do when you are forced to eat with people? Do you pack people parts in your lunch bag?

I just eat normal food. Like a normal person. I'm not tearing arms off passers by.

You can digest normal food? So your diet is varied. It isn't simply all people, all the time?

No. Eating people is a necessity, not a dietary choice. Try to limit it to a few times a week, but the more energy I use, the bigger the cravings.
