I know men like him. They're terrified to take on a risk like you, they have no taste for unique and thrilling minds. No doubt a cunning something had entrapped his affections once, when he was younger. Hence why he is embittered, hence why he adopts a prickly persona when, ultimately, he thirsts for the approval of his peers. He is in survival mode.

He'll flirt with you, Starr. At most. But you care too much about consent to push his boundaries.

Do these reasons also mirror the reasons why you will never give in? Is this knowledge of him also knowledge of how you yourself operate?

[He has some self-awareness. While some of the other stuff leveled might apply to Chilton in various degrees, his reaction to it is one opposite of risk-averse.]

I am only saying, people cling to faith because they are addicted to hope. Or desperate for hope. I am more... Morpheus than Messiah.

Whatever name you prefer, you will bring salvation. I've observed the way you are when you are in control. And that is the sort of thing this world needs at its helm.

And who is currently on staff to watch over your well-being? I am not there. I should be there.

You should not be here. I believe Jack is patrolling in your absence.

[He wasn't sure about that, actually, it was late enough for Jack to have clocked out. But Jack being Jack... Sometimes just did his own thing.]

He is not as good at watching out for you as I am. I highly doubt he would step in to protect you from yourself. I am on my way.

[And to be fair, he hadn't been kidnapped in nearly a year.]
