I'm going to be...creating a new pantheon. New gods. New powers, use their songs for our purpose.

[ He laughs. ] I'm going to upend the entire board for them. They've cut me out, you know. I did something awful back home, apparently, so well...

I'm going to teach them a lesson for ignoring me -- but I'm going to need people to...fill the ranks, so to speak.

Ingenious. It certainly will shake things up for them, level the high ground they stand upon. But how do you plan on finding individuals worthy of the cause?

[ He doesn't exactly imagine many people signing up to become a god created by Woden. ]

I've been...watching for quite some time. The network, whenever we have those little "gatherings", by...talking to people.

I've been collecting data, and not just by making my own attempts at a pantheon, previously. That was the beta test.

My, my. You have been quite busy, haven't you?

My main question, I suppose, is will you be revisiting those who took part in your beta test? Namely, Doctor Chilton.

Oh, you should know: I'm always busy.

However, I may revisit some, but... Doctor Chilton was so resistant to the idea, don't you think? I wouldn't want to do him any real favors.

[herrstory]

I am in agreement that it would not be wise to revisit him as a prospect.

[ Starr has been so carefully crafting Chilton's messianic path. He would rather not see Chilton drunk on a power trip. Or otherwise damaging his reputation. ]

But with that said, you have my support otherwise. It is to my benefit to see the pantheon fall.

But perhaps there are others that are associated which could be...useful.

Or perhaps a taste of it yourself?

[ A taste of it himself? Well...the prospect of power is tempting. ]

And what would this entail? I would rather not sign over my soul, you understand. I've seen what happens to one missing only a fraction of their soul.

Oh, no, nothing like that. I have no use for souls.

[ A beat. ]

A hand might do, though. In exchange for a taste of our power.

A taste of your power. You mean that whole...performance thing?

Yes, exactly.

The exultation of it is... addictive. Or so I hear.

[herrstory]

Your offer is intriguing. But is there a catch? Apart from the sacrifice of my hand.

[ Which actually....doesn't seem to bother him. It'll grow back. What does he care? Not like it'd be the first time he cut off a limb in this world. ]

That depends on what you do with the power.

[ A beat. ]

I...am a magnanimous god. I wouldn't hold such power over you, of all people.

[herrstory]

[ He pauses for a moment, giving it only that single moment to think it over. Is David entirely trustworthy? No. But what's the harm, ultimately? Power is attractive, and Starr could use it for his own agenda while supporting David's. ]

All right. Count me in. When precisely are you planning this?
